Design Your GAP GROWTH YEAR

What is

Filling The Gap

Filling the Gap aims to not only design the perfect gap year for you, but also provides resources so you can take charge of your planning process. Although the gap year alumni are vast, I have never come across two gap years that have been the same. For this reason, we offer different services and levels of counseling that are right for you. We want to bring our knowledge of programs and possibilities and make it accessible to all students no matter their age, experience with travel, budget, interests, and more!

Braninstorm

First we would start off discussing your goals in order to start the planning process. We would brainstorm things such as your interests, what’s important to you, where you want to go, and what you want to gain out of your time off.

Plan

Next, we would begin budgeting, program referrals, explore safety aspects, and a general timeline. This aspect of planning will help curate a more specific list and view of what is possible.

Finalize

After we have carefully planned out what you want your timeline to look like, we will then apply to programs, communicate about how to get ready for your travels, and continued support until you start your year!

GAP YEAR ADVISOR

MEET NICOLE

Nicole Dhar founded ‘Filling the Gap’ because of the passion she had for showing others the opportunities and possibilities students have before venturing off to college. As a former gap year student herself, Nicole loved exploring her unique interests and having a set time for structured growth to understand what she truly wanted to pursue in college.

Nicole is now a recently graduated Psychology student in her hometown at the University of Texas at Austin. She also sits on the Outreach Committee for Gap Year Association, is an advocate through Gap Year Fairs, and has visited high schools in the area to encourage others to be open to taking a year off.

Through this process, she hopes to bring students a fresh perspective on the gap year experience and show how transformative this period of time can be in your life.
